La Nina pattern forecast for the Winter
Posted By Joel on November 10, 2010
Scientists working with the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration have released projections indicating a strong “La Nina” pattern for the south central US this winter. This means above average temperatures and below average precipitation (the west coast and Pacific NW get the opposite).
What does this mean for us? A high probability of drought conditions developing through the winter. Not good for duck hunting but great for lower lake levels (which produce EXCELLENT carp/”flats” fishing!). We’ll see. The last La Nina pattern we had produced just that; a mild, dry winter. Past evidence has also proven that the pattern lasts through February and then we get a shot of cold, wet weather in March (remember the “Easter Snow” a few years ago?).
